"SOLILOQUY”

 IH MONO ACT PLAY 2024-25 (IX-XII)

A mono act play, also known as a monologue, is a form of dramatic entertainment where a single performer presents a piece of theatre. This solo performance can encompass a wide range of styles, from serious drama to comedy, and often involves the actor taking on multiple characters or personas within a single performance. The art of mono act plays can be traced back to ancient Greek theatre, where solo performers, known as rhapsodes, would recite epic poems and tales. Over the centuries, the format evolved, finding prominence in Elizabethan theatre with soliloquies and later in 19th-century vaudeville and cabaret performances.

The Housemasters/ Housemistress are expected to nominate two students from classes IX to XII and they will be given an opportunity to choose one from sixteen monologues of the Elizabethan and Jacobean tragedies by lucky pot method on 26.07.2024.

All the respective Teachers of English are expected to train the students to stage their enacting skills. The modus operandi of the events will be expounded to the selected students, and they will be trained from 26.07.2024 by Class IX-XII English teachers, of their respective Houses.
