IHDEBATE 2024-25 (VI-VIII)

A debate is a structured argument or discussion where participants present opposing viewpoints on a specific topic or issue. Each side, typically represented by teams or individuals, is given the opportunity to present their arguments, rebut the opposing side's points, and defend their own stance. Debates are governed by rules that ensure fair speaking time and order. The primary goals of a debate are to persuade the audience or judges, develop critical thinking and public speaking skills, and foster an understanding of different perspectives. Debates are commonly used in educational settings, public forums, and competitive arenas to promote intellectual engagement and informed discourse.

Topics for the debate will be shared 30 min prior the competition, students can access computer lab for researching purpose.

The Department of English is proud to host “IH Debate” on 30.07.2024; 07:50 a.m. – 08:50a.m. from Classes VI to VIII in the School Auditorium.

All the respective Teachers of English are expected to provide a fair shake for all the students to stage their debating skills during the sessions connecting with their regular lessons and after thorough scrutinization, submit the names of two students “collectively” from Classes VI to VIIIto the respectiveHousemasters and Housemistress by 25.07.2024.The modus operandi of the eventswill be expounded to the selected students and will be trained from 26.07.2024 by Class VI to VIII English teachers, for their respective Houses.

Class VII will be the audience. Students should assemble in the auditorium by 07:45 a.m. Respectiveperiod teachers will be withthe childrenin the school auditorium. Students will be seated house wise.
