Celebration of International Day for Conservation of Mangroves

One of the first conditions of happiness is that the link between man and nature shall not be broken." On 25 July 2024, DPS Gaya organized a special event to commemorate the International Day for the Conservation of Mangroves, the cornerstone of coastal habitats. The event commenced with a floral welcome to the esteemed chief guest, Dr Prashant Jha, Head of the Department of Geography and Geology at the Central University of South Bihar. Subsequently, the schools Ecology Club presented a short PPT on mangroves, highlighting their importance and the need for conservation. The students actively engaged by asking numerous questions and seeking guidance on preserving coastal habitats. The chief guest addressed the gathering, emphasizing mangroves crucial role in coastal protection and biodiversity. He underlined the alarming rate of disappearance of mangrove forests and urged the students to become catalysts of change. Our revered Principal underscored the practicality of taking practical steps to protect and safeguard mangroves for a healthier coastal habitat. The chief guest was presented with a memento as a token of gratitude from the school for his inspiring presence at the event.
